CORRECTIONS
How Proofline fixes what it got wrong.
Proofline will publish mistakes. The question a reader should be able to answer is not whether that happens but whether they would be able to tell.
What can never be silently edited
- A published record's numbers. A corrected record is a NEW version; the earlier one keeps its identity and stays inspectable.
- The dataset a record was computed from. It is content-addressed, so changing it changes its hash and the record no longer matches.
- The version of the fill model, fee treatment or settlement logic that produced a result.
- A record's classification. Moving something from limited to verified is itself a recorded change.
- The evidence attached to a market, or the reason it was attached.
A restatement does not overwrite history. The superseded version remains, marked as superseded, with the reason recorded. If a record simply disappeared, that would be indistinguishable from hiding a bad result.
How to report an error
- 01Tell us what is wrong and whereThe page, the record or the market, and what you believe is incorrect. A link and a sentence is enough. You do not need an account.
- 02A person reads itReports are reviewed by hand. There is no automated takedown and no automated correction.
- 03We reproduce it, or explain why we could notA record's inputs are sealed, so a disputed number can be recomputed exactly. If the original result stands, you get the reason rather than silence.
- 04The fix is published as a change, not a patchA corrected record is issued as a new version with the reason attached, and the superseded version stays visible.
Where to send it
- An error on a page or in a record
- Use the feedback link in the footer of any page, or from here. It carries the page you were on.
- A disputed evidence source or classification
- Same route. Say which market and which source, and what you believe the correct classification is. See the evidence policy for what each label means.
- Something about a verification or a creator's record
- Use the verification contact route and say it is about an existing record.
- A security problem
- Report it privately through the support page rather than in public. Please do not test against other people's accounts.
Proofline is small and self-funded, so a reply may take days rather than hours. What it will not do is fix something quietly. Read the limitations.
